Governors

Caroline Sayer MA Oxon, MBBS, DCH, DRCOG (Chair) Studied medicine at Somerville College Oxford and The Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel. She was a GP partner in a local Camden practice for 25 years and more recently chaired the Camden Clinical Commissioning Group. Her daughter attended Sarum Hall.
Stuart Davies BA (Hons), FCA (Finance & Estates Committee) Stuart graduated from King’s College University and then qualified as a chartered accountant at Ernst and Young. He has spent 30 years working in insurance, private equity and other finance roles.
David Day BA (Hons), (Governance and Nominations Committee) David graduated in 1985 from the University of Bristol with a history degree and then retrained as a lawyer. He spent his whole career as a corporate lawyer at the international law firm, CMS, becoming a partner in 1997 and retiring October 2022.
Sarah Hack BA (Hons), FRGS (Finance & Estates Committee, and Health & Safety Governor) Graduated from Portsmouth University with a degree in Geography and Economics and then a PGCE in Geography and Games from Southampton University. She has spent over 20 years teaching in both state and independent secondary schools. Currently Assistant Head (Operations) at Francis Holland School, Regent’s Park. She is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.
Ian Lazarus MBA, BA (Governance and Nominations Committee) Ian has more than 35 years’ experience in the City of London, working as a Board and “C-suite” adviser and search consultant. He holds an Economics and Politics degree from The University of York and an MBA from INSEAD. He is on the board of the Whitley Fund for Nature and previously on the board of The Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust in Jersey. His daughter attended Sarum Hall School.
Emma McKendrick (Education Committee) Emma is a linguist who was educated at the Universities of Liverpool and Birmingham. She was Headmistress of the Royal School Bath from 1994-97 and took up her appointment as Headmistress of Downe House in 1997. She has a great deal of experience as a Governor of a variety of independent Senior and Prep Schools and was a member of the Independent Schools’ Examination Board. She is a Trustee of the Prep School Baccalaureate, a Member of GSA, HMC and BSA and a Fellow of the RSA. She is married and has two sons. When time allows, she enjoys travel, the theatre and cinema, and spending time with her family.
Marcella McLean (Governance and Nominations Committee) Marcella is an HR executive with cross sector experience including technology, financial services and legal. She holds a Law degree from the City Law School and an MSc in Human Resource Management from the University of Liverpool. She has spent time working on humanitarian and charitable projects in West Africa and Mexico City. Marcella is a Trustee for an Insurance charity, The Lloyd’s Benevolent Fund and a children’s charity, the Hackney Play Association.
Amy Quittenton (Governance and Nominations Committee) Amy is a strategic and hands-on marketing & communications leader with over 20 years’ experience working within SMEs and large corporates. She is skilled in the development and execution of marketing and internal communications strategy. Amy holds a Diploma in Interactive and Direct Marketing, the CIM Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing, and the IDM Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Marketing. When time allows, Amy enjoys netball and plays in the North West Kent Netball league.
Gordon Rustin MBBS, BSc, MD, FRCP, (Health & Safety Governor) Consultant Medical Oncologist at Mount Vernon Cancer centre since 1984 and Honorary Professor at ICR and UCL. His wife and daughter attended Sarum Hall School.
Kate Simon BA (Hons), PGCE (Safeguarding and Education Committee) Current Headmistress of Grimsdell, an Independent Pre-Preparatory School, part of the Mill Hill Foundation.
Jonathan Smith (Finance & Estates Committee) Chartered surveyor experienced in property development, investment and trading. He has been in partnership at Universal Consolidated Group Ltd since 2002. His early career was spent at Aviva Fund Managers, Singer & Friedlander and Close Brothers.
Vivian Thomas BEd, MA (Education Committee) Entered the teaching profession having graduated from St. Luke’s College, Exeter University. Formerly a prep school Headmaster of 20 years’ standing most recently at Arnold House School, St. John’s Wood. Now providing support and advice to school leaders, parents and teachers as an Education Consultant.
