The EYFS curriculum covers seven areas of a child’s development, three Prime Areas that are key to allow children to develop and learn and four Specific Areas that support these:
Prime Areas:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Physical Development
- Communication and Language Development
Specific Areas:
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Art and Design
A combination of planned activities together with structured and exploratory play stimulates and extends the natural interests of our pupils. Alongside classroom activities lead by the Form Teacher, specialist teachers teach music and PE and other specialists support in delivering the curriculum. The classrooms have a range of resources and devices accessible to the girls to support their learning of ICT skills and the world around them.
The Early Years girls are an important part of the school community and are included in many of the whole school activities, such as trips, visits, charity projects and workshops, as well as enjoying opportunities designed specifically for them. At Christmas and the end of the summer term, the EYFS put on hugely enjoyable dramatic performances for their parents and carers.
